Ely, Cambridgeshire-based temperature controlled specialist Buffaload Logistics has taken delivery of 10 used Scania R420 6x2 tractive units from Scania (GB)'s Lincoln dealership.
The 2008 models, with approximately 400,000kms on the clock, are all fitted with mid-lift axles and will be used on night trunking work for a major retailer. It brings Buffaload's total fleet size to 33 vehicles.
Buffaload head of operations Matthew Dunford says the firm is also about to open a new 15,000 sq ft cold store in Huntingdon, which will be used for cross-docking and consolidation of outbound products.
The new cold store will complement three other cold stores at its Avonmouth, Wigan and Ely sites and gives the firm a total of 55,000 sq ft of cold storage, says Dunford. An in-house workshop will also be established at the new Huntingdon site as truck servicing and maintenance is brought back in-house, he adds.
