NAP Grab Hire has taken delivery of its first Andover Trailer: a bespoke built 85-tonne gross weight five-axle unit.

Neil Parker, director at NAP Grab Hire, said: “We knew we were going to use someone else to build a major new addition. You get bullet proof build quality from Andover, so we naturally turned to them.”

The low-profile neck and heavy-duty hydraulic power toe ramps, which provide a low loading angle, alongside four hydraulic legs for stability. Galvanised side extensions and storage compartments complete the design.

The 14.95m step frame can extend by 2.5m in order to accommodate longer machines – ensuring maximum flexibility. Extending via two outer box beams, the trailer has higher strength where it’s needed when supporting heavy machinery.

It features all round LED lighting, steel under lays on the beavertail and ramps to extend the life of the flowing timber, while for loading security, there are D-rings on the neck and four pairs of screw-in lashing points along the deck offering loading flexibility.

Tasked with towing the new trailer is NAP Grab Hire’s Scania T730, the show piece of the fleet and the trailer has been tailored towards it. The trailer is predicted to complete between 70,000 to 80,000 miles per year over a 15 year period.

“During the process, our driver was also able to work closely with Andover’s design team to tailor some elements to how he wanted them; that’s something you don’t really anywhere else. This combination of quality and customer service has set Andover apart”, Parker added.

The new step frame will join five other smaller OEM built step frames on the company’s hire fleet, and will be used to move heavy-duty crushers and screeners to sites around the UK.
