At IAA Transportation, BYD has launched a range of electric vehicles designed specifically for the European market. The BYD ETH8 is a 19-tonne eTruck available with two wheelbase options. It’s equipped with a 255kWh battery to offer a range of 250km. With fast charging, the battery can be replenished from 20% to 100% in two hours.
Alongside this, BYD displayed its ETM6 7.5-tonne truck, suited to inner city distribution. This vehicle has a range of up to 200km and with DC charging at 120kW can charge from 20% to 100% in one hour. The cab has an aerodynamic silhouette and inside it’s said to focus on technology and driver comfort.
BYD also debuted its E-VALI, a new electric LCV suited to final mile and courier delivery services. The vehicle weighs in at 3.5-tonne to 4.25-tonne and offers a range of between 220 to 250km depending on the specification. A suite of ADAS features is expected to come as standard.
In addition to its fleet of on-road products, BYD unveiled its EYT 2.0 electric yard tractor. Designed for working in ports and terminals, the vehicle has a GCW up to 75-tonne. The yard tractor offers good manoeuvrability and a working time of up to 16 hours on a single charge with the benefit of efficient charging between shifts.
Michael Shu, managing director of BYD Europe, said: “BYD’s goal of cooling the earth by one degree is a vision that can only be achieved through a wide variety of applications. We’re delighted to show another part of this here at IAA, with a line-up of commercial vehicles, including new models that are tailored to Europe. We’re optimistic that the E-VALI and EYT 2.0 can make significant contributions to more sustainable solutions in areas as diverse as last-mile deliveries and major distribution hubs.”
