Carlsberg UK has axed storage operations at two of its sites in order to streamline logistics costs.
The brewer has decided to only offer delivery services from its Kinmel Park, north Wales and Kendal, Cumbria facilities, choosing to consolidate the existing warehouse operations into other depots, with effect from today (13 September).
Around 15 jobs were lost as a result of the changes, however redundancies were minimised through redeployment in the network. The firm worked with Unite throughout the consultation.
Mark Groves, national distribution director for Carlsberg UK, says: "There has been volume decline in those regions, and part of my job is to reduce cost base. We will continue to review our network structure to make logistics as efficient as possible. Transport is a core part of our business."
