Former Cartwright Group MDs John and Steven Cartwright have burst back onto the trailer and body manufacturing scene with the launch of Tiger Trailers.

The brothers, whose sudden resignation from the family-run Cartwright Group was announced last month, have based their new company at the Winsford Industrial Estate in Winsford, Cheshire – 16 miles from the site of their old company’s headquarters.

Announcing the move, Tiger Trailers sales director Darren Holland said it was the first time in decades that a new UK trailer and body manufacturer had entered the market and that the firm would be offering a complete range, from rigid bodies for 3.5 tonners to double-deck longer semi-trailers for operation at 44 tonnes.

The new company will be exhibiting at this month's Commercial Vehicle Show on stand 3C123 and first confirmed orders are expected to be delivered during September, he added.

Steven Cartwright, joint MD at Tiger Trailers, said of the brothers' decision to leave Cartwright Group: “The decision to leave was driven by our desire to lead the company 100% and to make significant changes for its future success.

“Unfortunately and agreement was not reached and therefore, the decision to leave and create Tiger came about.”

Mark Cartwright has subsequently become group MD at Cartwright Group.
