To celebrate its 45th anniversary, Castledene Transport has taken delivery of a new Volvo FH 500 with I-Save Globetrotter XL 6x2 tractor unit, complete with a special livery. Supplied by Steve Moon, Truck Sales Director at MC Truck & Bus, the new truck will be put to work on general haulage jobs across the UK. Castledene Transport runs a fleet of 40 vehicles which are predominantly Volvo models.

Matt Clarke, operations director at Castledene Transport, said: “The majority of our fleet has been Volvo for many years now, and we’ve come to really embrace the product for its reliability, comfort and overall performance. What shines through in our opinion is the level of service we receive, which is truly second to none – its team is Premier League while other manufacturers are still playing Sunday league. Whenever we need to call on MC Truck & Bus, we know for certain that they’ll work quickly and diligently to get the job done, all while keeping us fully up to date with what exactly is happening. That is a massive help when it comes to managing our fleet.”

The FH500 has a 500hp Euro 6 compliant engine with peak torque of 2,800Nm. The engine features turbo-compound technology to keep the vehicle running at lower revs in a higher gear for longer periods of time. This is paired with a 12-speed I-Shift automated gearbox.

Volvo’s I-Save package includes I-See predictive cruise control, I-Cruise and I-Roll which adjust speed for the most fuel efficient journey. The cab is equipped with roof and side air deflectors to improve aerodynamics.

Castledene Transport opted for a Globetrotter XL cab and Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels. Inside, it has leather upholstery, the Drive+ package with dual armrests, adjustable steering wheel with neck tilt, air conditioning and a suspended and heated driver’s seat.

Road Transport Expo takes place from 4-6 June at NAEC Stoneleigh in Warwickshire. It is completely free to attend for visitors, so why not book your place today?!
