Ellistown-based bulk haulier CC & RJ Emerson has revealed plans to expand following the purchase of half-an-acre of land from cement firm Cemex UK.
The East Midlands firm says the additional space, which adjoins its current operating site on the South Leicester Industrial Estate, will allow it to expand its 35-space truck parking facility, as well as giving it space to add six more trucks to its 12-strong fleet.
CC & RJ Emerson director Daniel Emerson tells Commercialmotor.com that business has picked up during 2012, despite the recession, but that fuel prices continue to be a major issue.
He adds that most customers are "quite accommodating at the moment" when it comes to understanding the costs pressures hauliers face, and are understanding of the need to increase rates when fuel prices go up, but there are still those firms out there willing to cost at rock-bottom prices.
The company specialises in the haulage of bulk products such as glass bottles for recycling, coal and scrap materials, and is looking to growing its turnover as the business expands.
The company has pumped an extra £20,000 into beefing up security at the site, he adds. "This has been done by adding full boundary fencing and a secure gated access point."
Facilities at the firm's truck park include toilets, showers and a canteen for drivers and cost £25 per week to use.
