Cemex recruiting new owner-drivers

Cemex is looking for 10 new owner-drivers to work for its concrete operation.

"Many of our independent haulage contractors (IHCs) have been with the firm since the 1960s," explains Lance Higgs, national operations director for Readymix, part of the Cemex Group. "We’re looking for 10 new IHCs to work across the country to replace those that are nearing retirement age."

Across the group Cemex has around 430 IHCs.

"We really rely on our drivers, they are the customer-facing side of our business and they work in challenging conditions," says Higgs. "We provide a full development package for new IHCs which includes health and safety training on both customer sites and our own. We also offer financial guidance on operating as a self-employed owner-driver."

Cemex is looking for the new IHCs to come on board in the spring. Interested applicants should contact robert.bright@cemex.com by 31 December.
