Police hunting a man in connection with a suspicious fire at a haulage firm who jumped bail said he had been located and charged with arson.

Carl Richardson was arrested in November following an investigation into a blaze at Penwarden Haulage in Epson and then released on bail.

However, an arrest warrant was issued after he failed to answer the bail and the 35-year-old was eventually re-arrested on 22 December.

He appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates Court and was charged with two offences of arson.

Richardson was remanded in custody and will appear again at Kingston Crown Court on 17 March for a plea and case management hearing.

The fire on 3 October caused £1.5m worth of damage to 12 HGVs.
