Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia has supplied Poole-based vehicle recycling specialist Charles Trent with six new 4x2 Volvo rigid car transporters.
The vehicles, which feature bodywork by Belle Trailers and cab wrap livery design by Blowfish Media, include three FL-250 16-tonners, one FE-280 18-tonner, as well as two 6x2 axle FM-330s with low sleeper cabs, operating at 26-tonnes. All of them are based at the firm’s depot in Rugby and come with seven-year Volvo Gold Contracts.
The FMs feature Belle Trailers stop/start technology designed to improve fuel consumption when loading. Each truck is expected to average around 80,000km a year on collections and runs between the firm’s Rugby facility and its head office in Poole.
Laurance Wateridge, fleet manager at Charles Trent said: “We intend to operate the Volvos for a minimum of eight years and they will contribute considerably towards our weekly workloads.
Early performance indications on the Volvos look good, the 26-tonne FM rigids and the FE are all equipped with Volvo's I-Shift automated transmission system.
“We also specified Volvo's additional passenger door glazing on the FLs and the FE for extra safety levels.” Charles Trent will use the Coventry site of Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia for R&M work, which is open 24 hours a day.
“Overnight servicing means no interruption to our business and maximises each trucks' productivity level", Wateridge said.
