City Link has won a £3m contract to deliver for merchants Laithwaites Wine.
Under the terms of the contract City Link will collect consignments from the Laithwaites Wine distribution centre in Gloucester and deliver across the UK.
Laithwaites says it has signed the deal with the parcel carrier as a result of its on-line parcel tracker service My City Link, which was launched in May.
The product enables customers to track the progress of their parcels exactly two-and-a-half minutes after they have moved. It also allows them to track delivery status in certain regions using the following categories: delivered; about to be delivered; delivery attempted but no one was in; deliveries that are unlikely to be delivered that day.
Lee Andreas, carrier operations manager for UK and Ireland at Laithwaites, says: “The improvements in technology which City Link has introduced over the last couple of years have given us the opportunity to enhance our customer service offering.
“The new My City Link service gives us a much higher level of visibility than would normally be experienced in the market,” he adds.
