Mercedes-Benz franchised dealer City West Commercials has opened a service centre in Exeter, replacing an older, smaller facility.

The drive-through nine-bay workshop at the site, which is on the Greendale Business Park in Woodbury Salterton, features two 15m pits as well as ramps, while the building includes a parts department, offices and reception as well as a driver rest area. Depot manager Joe Casley leads a team of six parts staff and 11 technicians.

Of these, two work on emergency roadside assistance while another two visit customer premises to carry out maintenance and minor repairs. Initially, the workshop will be open from 6am to 11pm on weekdays, and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays. However, if demand picks up it will extend opening times by the end of the year.

The firm worked closely with network development specialists from Mercedes-Benz Trucks on the plans for the 8-acre site. Mark Williams, Mercedes-Benz Trucks head of network development, said: “Ideally located and purpose-built on a really good footprint, City West Commercials’ fantastic new service centre in Exeter is a great example of the kind of truck focused facility that is going to change the face of our dealer network over the months and years to come.”
