CitySprint has entered an agreement to buy the UK courier operations of Lewis Day, which will be integrated in the coming months into its same day courier and distribution operations.

The deal means CitySprint now has over 2,000 couriers as well as 35 service centres conducting some 15,000 movements per day.

Patrick Gallagher, chief executive of CitySprint, says: “This acquisition is a major milestone in our strategy of adding further scale and reach to our national business.

“We will quickly integrate the new fleet into our existing operations and will be deploying our market leading technology such as real-time GPS tracking and online booking to enhance the service to clients.”

It is CitySprint's fourth acqusition so far this year, which in May included former Eastenders actress Daniella Westbrook's business.
