Eight Renault Kerax 8x4 hookloaders have joined the 20-strong fleet of Devon firm Coastal Waste, part of Devon Waste Management. The trucks will service council recycling centres, commercial customers and private households.

Transport manager Craig Adamson says: "We looked at all the major marques, including Volvo, Scania, Daf and Renault. We found that Renault Trucks offered us the best overall package at a very competitive price.

"The Kerax is also very user-friendly: the vehicles have to operate around the rural lanes of Devon and we have found that being narrower than the Dafs [they replaced], the Renault Kerax is more suitable for this."

The Euro-5-engined, 450.32 Renaults have specialist bodywork by Boughtons. Coastal Waste is based at Devon Waste Management's Exeter Transfer station in Marsh Barton.
