CogLock will launch its innovative wheel security solution for HGVs, buses and coaches at the Road Transport Expo (RTX) next month, to boost vehicle safety and prevent wheel detachment.

The company said wheel detachment from vehicles remains a significant safety concern, with potential catastrophic consequences on the road. This issue not only poses a direct risk to the vehicle from which the wheel detaches but also to other road users who may encounter the detached wheel as a hazardous obstacle.

CogLock is cleverly designed to prevent wheel loss by focusing on three key factors.

Firstly, early visual identification, which allows operators to action maintenance checks and repairs well before the wheel is at risk of detaching.

Secondly, an effective locking mechanism means that in the event a wheel nut loosens, CogLock will lock the wheel nut.

Lastly, maintenance requirements are streamlined as there’s no need to add ancillary devices over the wheel nuts, removing any visual obscurities.

CogLock's 10.9 grade carbon steel studs and nuts are fully tested by a UKAS accredited laboratory and the product also incorporates a strong, heat and UV resistance polycarbonate locking pin, stainless steel spring, and locking balls.

Founded in 2023, CogLock has chosen this year’s RTX to debut its brand-new product to the industry.

Chris Coghill, founder and director of CogLock, said: “I can't wait to showcase CogLock and spread awareness of the product that will change the way we look at wheel security.”

During RTX, the company will also be running a competition to win a free set of CogLocks, with operators given the opportunity to enter the competition to equip one of their vehicles with the innovative system. To enter, all that’s required is contact details, fleet size, fleet profile and, if any, details about what current wheel security an operator is using.

Coghill added: “RTX has built a reputation as the UKs leading commercial vehicle show and the go-to show of the year. The combination of exhibitors, location, daily events, and type of clientele attending the show make it the best place for CogLock to carry out our product release.”

Road Transport Expo takes place from 4-6 June at NAEC Stoneleigh in Warwickshire. It is completely free to attend for visitors, so why not book your place today?!
