Heavy haulier Collett Transport has put two Daf XF510 6x4 tractor units with manual gearboxes on the road.

They each have Superspace cabs, 16-speed manual gearboxes, spring brake cylinders on both rear axles, Daf’s Truckphone system and 12.9 litre, 6 cylinder engines.

The Halifax-based operator, which provides transport for the oil and gas and construction industries, has fitted each of the vehicles with push/pull noses. The noses were designed, engineered and mounted by its in-house team.

They are additions to the fleet, which now stands at more than 60 tractors and over 100 trailers.

Last year Collett put into operation an Effer 205 tonne/meter crane, mounted 8x4 Mercedes 4155 tractor unit, which it claimed to be the first of its kind in Europe.
