Connolly named as Scania UK sales director

Scania has appointed former Imperial Commercials regional director Vincente Connolly as its UK sales director.

Connolly takes the reigns in the position previously held by Andrew Jamieson, who left the role to become managing director of Mercedes-Benz dealership Intercounty Truck & Van last month.

Connolly said he was “delighted” to have been given the opportunity to lead the UK sales team at Scania and he was looking forward to working with retail and fleets sales teams “as we assist and enable our customers make the transition to more sustainable transport solutions". 

As UK sales director Connolly is responsible for the sales of all new Scania UK trucks, buses, coaches and industrial and marine engines. Aside from his one year stint at DAF dealership Imperial, Connolly had previously spent a year at failed hire firm TOM Vehicle Rental which went into administration in March 2018. Prior to that he spent over 10 years at Mercedes-Benz, most recently as national sales director for trucks.

Scania (Great Britain) MD Martin Hay said that Connolly has “experience in both internal and customer-facing roles”.

“His in-depth knowledge of the industry spans sales and aftersales, making him ideally suited for the pivotal role of UK sales director within our organisation,” he added.
