Scania (Great Britain) has begun work on a new UK headquarters in Milton Keynes, which is due for completion in summer 2018.

The project, managed by construction company Kier, will see the manufacturer remain on its existing site, where it has been based for 36 years and employs more than 230 people.

It will add a 54,750 sq ft, three-storey headquarters building to the site, along with a new facilities building of about 5,000 sq ft. When the new buildings are finished, Kier will demolish the existing facilities space.

Claes Jacobsson, MD for Scania (Great Britain) said: "As one of the UK's leading commercial vehicle suppliers and one the longest established companies in Milton Keynes, this development reconfirms our commitment to both our industry and the area in which we are based.

“The premises are being constructed to an extremely high environmental standard, and as such will serve us for many years into the future as we continue to support our customers with an ever-growing and developing range of innovative and sustainable transport solutions."
