Continental AG has appointed Alex White as national sales manager for material handling and port operations across the UK and Ireland.

White, who joined the business in 2015, steps into the role with experience spanning truck, specialty and material handling tyre segments. The move brings together responsibility for two closely aligned areas as the manufacturer targets growth in both markets.

He said combining the segments made strategic sense: “Merging responsibility for material handling and port operations tyres is a good strategic move given the synergies between the two product groups. I’m excited to build on my experience, contacts and knowledge to meet customer demand.”

White pointed to increasing activity across ports and infrastructure projects as a key driver for the sector, with demand for vehicles and tyres expected to remain strong.

“There is a sense of optimism for this year, and with more activity at ports and the need for vehicles to support industrial expansion and construction work, I’m looking forward to a busy pipeline,” he said.

Rebecca Shedden, general sales manager – commercial tyres UK and Ireland at Continental, said White’s background made him well suited to the role.

“Alex has a deep understanding of our product portfolio and the needs of our customers. His experience across multiple tyre segments, combined with strong industry relationships, makes him ideally placed to drive growth in both material handling and port operations,” she said.
