Cooking en route with Chefmobil

Trowbridge, Wiltshire-based meals-on-wheels firm Apetito and Hitachi Capital have jointly developed the Chefmobil - a heavily modified Citroën Berlingo.

Hitachi Capital has fitted the van with three "plug and play" ovens, which took two years to develop. They can be loaded with 57 frozen meals and cooked en route, while a separate chiller compartment keeps salads and deserts cold.

Jon Lawes, general manager for Hitachi Capital's Trowbridge office says: "The new Chefmobil is a good example of Hitachi Capital's eagerness to work closely with its customers to arrive at improved and innovative solutions."
