Pendle Borough Council is to examine whether truckers have been using an overnight lorry park for long-term parking.

Following complaints from lorry drivers that space in Barnoldswick Lorry Park is limited, the council will monitor how long HGVs are parking there.

Sandra Farnell, transport and coordination manager at Pengle Borough Council, says: "I am currently in the early stages of investigations with our legal team about a possible amendment to our off-street parking order for the lorry park.

"If councillors agreed to this, it would help in enforcing time restrictions for drivers parking their vehicles there."

Lorries can park at Barnoldswick overnight but cannot remain there permanently. Councillor David Whipp says: "There are quite a lot of vehicles which are there all of the time. The operators who do this should have an operating centre as part of their licence from the Transport Commissioners."

The council could implement the restrictions before the end of the year.
