New online freight exchange Courier Frog has reported a positive start for its first quarter of trading.
Nottingham-based Courier Frog, which allows couriers and customers to post and respond to jobs online without having to pay a listing fee, says it has already signed up 200 couriers and some 1,000 customers, despite only launching in mid-January.
Of the posts, at least 500 have translated into actual sales, including one Nottingham legal firm paying a parcel carrier £160 to get a time-critical tender document to London. For any delivery under £150, Courier Frog will take 9% of the fee.
Chris Dowse, who is marketing the business, tells Roadtransport.com: "We are more than aware that there are other freight exchanges out there, but the fact that we have signed up so many companies and the fact that we don't charge anyone to list jobs is telling us that couriers are still looking for other options of finding work."
He says the service can cater for 'one man with a van' clients, to larger operators.
