Six men charged with conspiracy to steal HGVs and their freight are due in court next week.

The men were arrested in July following a series of early morning raids on addresses in Dover, Merseyside, North Wales and Lancashire.

Darren Price, Jeffrey Hamid, Lee Gilmore, Graham Ascroft, John Dahl and Stuart Nicholson will appear before Maidstone crown court on 2 October for plea and case management hearings.

A Kent police spokesman told Commercialmotor.com that all but Nicholson remained on remand in custody. Nicholson is on conditional court bail.

The arrests and subsequent charges were the culmination of a 12-month investigation into HGV crime by the Kent force, plus

Essex Serious Crime Directorate and the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit.

Two more men from the Merseyside area who were arrested shortly afterwards remain on police bail until 15 October.
