Durham-based haulier MJ Close & Son has taken delivery of a new SDC tri-axle trailer custom-built to transport straw, crops and timber products.
The drawbar trailer has BPW eco-plus axles and a Haldex braking system. The floor is a 28mm Keruing deck and 12 bespoke posts and sockets have been fitted to contain the load. The 7.6m chassis has an overall length of 9.3m, ideal for MJ Close & Son’s specialist loads that are transported in the north-east, Cumbria and south-west Scotland.
MJ Close director Bryan Close said: “We are delighted with the drawbar trailer from SDC, the quality of finish is superb and we were able to customise the specification to maximise our haulage operations.
“I am confident we have achieved the best working solution for our operations and we aim to replace our entire fleet with SDC trailers in the coming years.”
The trailer is paired with a Scania S500, which Close regularly takes to compete at national truck shows.
The new combination of Scania cab and SDC trailer took first place at the Barnard Castle Truck Show for best combination. A second drawbar trailer has already been ordered from SDC with delivery expected in February next year.
