Daf has upped its forecast for the 2015 truck market over 6t to between 41,000 and 42,000 and warned against 'panic buying' as lead times start to increase.

Speaking at the Tip-ex and Tank-ex show in Harrogate, Daf Trucks MD Ray Ashworth said that there was now an eight to nine month wait for tipper bodies and a 14 week lead time for Daf chassis, meaning operators were having to order 12 months ahead.

"This always happens but let's not get into the same position as 2008 when people placed orders that weren't totally real," he said. "It's not quite panic buying but let us, the manufacturers, try to plan and pull the lead times down."
