Dawson Rentals takes 100 MAN TGM rigids

Dawson Rentals has taken delivery of 100 MAN TGM rigids for its expanding fleet of refrigerated and ambient trucks.

The Milton Keynes-based rental firm has acquired some 150 of rigid MANs in the past 12 months, on top of 250 MAN tractor units taken on over the same period. MAN now accounts for one fifth of the Dawson fleet.

Steve Miller, group MD of Dawson, says: "These weren't the cheapest vehicles offered to us; but we have had extremely good support from the MAN team during our negotiations and that has helped considerably.

"We do see vehicle manufacturers getting into rental activities in their own right, including MAN themselves, but while that makes us a little uncomfortable, we believe there is a world of difference between what they can do and what [we] offer."

Volvo FEs clean up in Rotherham

Waste collection in Rotherham has been boosted by the council's addition of six new Volvo FE trucks. The 23-tonne Low Entry Cab models will work on domestic kerbside collections alongside more than 200 other vehicles collecting glass, textiles and paper. Ken Mallinson continues with fleet upgrade

Barnsley-based Ken Mallinson & Sons Transport has put 10 new Euro-5 Mercedes-Benz Actros tractors onto its fleet as part of its replacement programme.The new tractor units, supplied by Northside Truck & Van in Doncaster, are 460hp Megaspace units with automatic transmissions, and will be used as part of the firm’s general haulage fleet delivering goods for customers including Asda.
