This week we visited the Wolverhampton headquarters of ATE Truck and Trailer Sales. The company’s 14-acre site on the Boundary Industrial Estate is close to junction 2 of the M54 and features a selection of curtainsiders, tippers and flatbeds.
A 2009 6x2 Daf CF85 460 with sleeper cab, which is ideal for long-haul work and has an automatic gearbox and full air deflector kit, caught our eye. Also on the forecourt was a 2014 MAN TGS 26.320 curtainsider with sleeper cab and automatic gearbox. It looked ready to go at a moment’s notice.
And finally, we saw a 2016 13.6m SDC flatbed tri-axle trailer with 12m x 1.2m posts and sockets, 1.6m L specification headboard, BPW axles, drum brakes and Keruing floor. ATE Truck and Trailer Sales, founded in 2000 by James Jenkins and Allan Evans, used to concentrate almost exclusively on second-hand trailers.
The past six years have seen it expand its presence in the used truck market and it is now part of the Asset Alliance Group that owns the Forest Asset Finance and Total Reefer brands. The company, which has a site at Newmains in Lanarkshire, said it has trucks and trailers to meet any contractual requirement and price range.
