A new Fuso Canter 7.5-tonner has found its way on to the fleet of Foundation Packaging just one week after making contact with Northside Truck & Van about the truck.

The curtainsider had been destined for Northside’s own demonstration fleet, but were able to get the vehicle to the customer the week after making their initial enquiry.

Foundation Packing currently runs three Canters which it uses to supply foodservice manufacturers and resellers with packaging from takeaway containers and wrappings to storage products.

The Canter 7C15 with 20ft curtainsided body built by Alloy Bodies was taken on a finance lease agreement from Mercedes-Benz Finance with the company’s first Canter, a 64-plate model purchased from Northside three years ago taken back in part-exchange for the new one.

Warehouse & logistics manager Lee Arthur said: “We’ve remained very busy throughout the pandemic and had put another 130,000 miles on the original Canter. It had always been exceptionally reliable and certainly didn’t owe us anything. But the time was right for us to stand down that vehicle, and the fact that Northside was prepared to provide us with a new and competitively priced replacement at such short notice, was a real bonus.”

“We make a high proportion of our deliveries to customers on inner city industrial estates and other urban locations. The Canter is not as physically big as most other 7.5-tonners, and is highly manoeuvrable with a very tight turning circle.  This is another important ‘plus’ when it comes to getting in and out of tight spots.”

FUSO will be exhibiting at Road Transport Expo at NAEC Stoneleigh (30 June to 2 July). Register now for FREE
