David Robert Knowles, founder of D&P Transport, has died aged 69.
He passed away on 6 March 2015 surrounded by his family.
David began his career in road haulage at Alfred Hymas in North Yorkshire, where he worked on the milk marketing board. David introduced articulated wagons to the family firm F Knowles and Son, before forming D&P in the late 1970s.
After moving to New Zealand in the early 1990s, David subcontracted for the New Zealand Post until he returned to England, where he drove for six months of the year for F Knowles and Son.
David dedicated his entire working life to the haulage industry, and was driving containers just four weeks before his death.
David’s funeral will be held on Thursday 19th March 2015 at Holy Trinity Church, Rothwell, Leeds.
