North-east haulier Devereux Developments saw its profit more than double for the year ending 31 March 2010, despite a slight dip in turnover.
The Bellingham-based operator posted a pre-tax profit of £252,978, compared to a pre-tax profit of £115,023 in the previous 12 months. Turnover fell to £11.2m, compared to £11.4m a year ago.
Managing director Ken Devereux tells Roadtransport.com that the increase in pre-tax profit was due to reduced capital expenditure compared to 2009, and describes the performance as "an average year".
"We hope for more of the same next year," he adds. "We are quite happy with what we are doing."
