DHL Supply Chain has secured a five-year future with Burton's Foods, despite the Jammie Dodger maker recently downsizing.

DHL's transport and warehousing partnership with Burton's Foods had been in doubt, after the biscuits manufacturer announced plans to shut its Moreton, Wirral, factory - resulting in 342 redundancies - and to shut two distribution depots in Knowsley.

Since then, however, Motor Transport can exclusively reveal that DHL has won a five-year logistics contract renewal with the firm.

As a result of the Burton's restructure, DHL has entered a consultation period with Knowsley employees on the Burton's contract, currently based at Acornfield and Charleywood, to move to a new 360,000ft2 DHL hub in G.Park, Liverpool.
