DHL Supply Chain has won a five-year distribution contract worth £38m with office products wholesaler Spicers.

All 180 employees from the previous contractor BRS have been retained by DHL. They will handle the transportation of office equipment to dealers and customers from Spicers' regional DCs in Birmingham, Bristol, Chessington, Glasgow, Greenwich and Heywood.

DHL will manage a dedicated 98-strong fleet and will add aerodynamic trailers to the operation.

Spicers logistics and customer services director Vida Barr-Jones says: "DHL has shown real understanding of our business and values, while demonstrating the ability to be flexible in its approach and innovative in its thinking.

"Awarding this new five-year deal to DHL reflects the confidence we have in the team, and we look forward to developing a strong partnership to drive further cost savings and improved service delivery."
