DHL Supply Chain says it has reduced its carbon footprint by introducing a vehicle tracking system on its contract with office furniture company Triumph.

The logistics firm has fitted Navman Wireless GPS tracking units - which can gather live vehicle positioning information - to its fleet.

DHL staff based at Triumph's manufacturing site in Merthyr Tydfil then use Paragon's Fleet Controller system to monitor the locations of the trucks.

Steve Austin, general manager at DHL Supply Chain, says: "With integrated vehicle tracking, we can see precisely how the daily plan is progressing, which enables us to spot potential problems and deal with them quickly.

"This true picture of vehicle and driver activity ensures that we plan our routes and loads for maximum efficiency and this minimises road miles."
