A driver has been killed after concrete slabs fell on him from his truck while it was parked at services on the M1 in Derbyshire.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Derbyshire Police have launched a joint investigation after driver Travis Hale, 45, from Rocester in Staffordshire, died as a result of the incident that happened in the HGV parking area of Tibshelf services, northbound, at about 3.35pm on January 11.
The white Volvo tractor unit had travelled from Derby, and was carrying pre-made panels for a construction site, which look like pre-cast concrete slabs, upright on a flat-bed articulated trailer.
An HSE spokesman says: "HSE is aware of the incident and is jointly investigating with Derbyshire Police and the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA).
"The police are currently taking the lead."
Police are asking witnesses to contact them on 0345 1233333 or leave a message on the witness appeal line 01773 572929.
