Loyal Commercial Motor reader, Reg Foord of East Sussex, has been granted his wish for his final journey to be on a lorry.

The son of a lorry driver, he grew up in a converted railway carriage at Ninfield. In a career that began after ending National Service in 1957 he drove extensively throughout Europe and as far as the Middle East. One of his career highlights was getting the UK’s first 500hp Renault Magnum

Despite being diagnosed with cancer at the age of 75, he continued driving until losing his HGV licence on health grounds five years later. Son Jamie is continuing the family driving tradition.

His final journey was aboard Classic Foden Lorry Funerals’ 1957 Foden S18.
