Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London has supplied Dunmow Waste Management with seven new Volvo FL 18-tonne skip loaders.

The trucks, with nine-speed manual gearboxes and D8K engines that produce 250hp, include Volvo Gold Service R&M contracts with servicing provided by MC Truck and Bus in Essex. They all have Hyvalift NG2012XL bodywork with a lifting capacity of between 5.4 and 12 tonnes depending on arm positioning and extension.

Safety features include remote control and automatic sheeting systems, telescopic extending arms, cycle sensor systems, cameras and extra passenger door glazing. Chelmsford-based Dunmow Waste Management employs more than 70 staff and runs a fleet of 26 trucks, half of them Volvo.

Sam Malins, MD at Dunmow Waste Management, said: “We want to extend vehicle retention periods and that’s our reason for buying Volvo trucks, they are a robust, reliable brand that is built to last. We also opted for Volvo’s Dynafleet management system which lets us benchmark fuel consumption figures in addition to monitoring other data such as idle times and vehicle positioning.

“Our drivers prefer Volvo trucks, reporting good quality interiors and smoother, more powerful engines than some of our other marques.”
