The DVSA has updated its categorisation of defects guide ahead of the introduction of more stringent emissions control checks in August.
The guidance is primarily aimed at DVSA enforcement staff and police officers and provides advice on what action they should take when roadworthiness defects are found during roadside inspections.
The DVSA recommended that all HGV operators and drivers read the guide to ensure they are aware of the agency’s inspection standards.
Changes to the previous document, which was last issued in 2015, include changes to emissions control system checks and the withdrawal of delayed prohibition action for incorrect tyre load index.
