Eddie Stobart faces a strike at its Doncaster DC, after drivers facing the chop voted for industrial action.
More than 150 drivers out of the 183 based at the DC who are at risk of redundancy, voted in favour of manning the barricades.
It comes after Eddie Stobart revealed it would remove the transport function from its Doncaster DC, last week (5 September).
The affected staff transferred under Tupe from Tesco to the operator when it took on the DC on 5 August. Unite feared that redundancy was on the cards for the drivers after Stobart delayed an announcement on their future until September.
Harriet Eisner, Unite regional officer, said: “The full impact of Eddie Stobart’s decision is now sinking in that they won’t have a job by Christmas.
“Unite is still in talks with Eddie Stobart, but the management remains intransigent that it wants to get rid of the drivers.”
The union also attacked supermarket chain Tesco for effectively washing its hands of its former employees.
Stobart last week said “reorganisation of operations is necessary to achieve a cost-effective, efficient and sustainable solution while still delivering an excellent standard of service”.
