Eddie Stobart has joined the RHA, with chief executive William Stobart stating that a united industry had “far greater power to bring about change”.
The association also said that having the £550m per annum haulage giant as a member would also increase its buying power when negotiating deals for all members, as well as boosting its profile in lobbying.
It is believed to be the first time the firm has had full national membership.
Chief executive William Stobart said: “The RHA works hard for the industry on all levels. In particular it has put the issue of the driver shortage firmly on the political agenda. A united industry has far greater power to bring about change and, without doubt, we will be stronger together.”
RHA chief executive Richard Burnett said that the association had spent the past six months working hard to modernise its strategy on all levels and it was focussing on raising its profile and providing better commercial deals for members.
“The addition of Eddie Stobart to our membership is great news,” Burnett added. “Every RHA member, whether an owner driver or a multi-million pound operation is important to us and we pride ourselves in giving the same, high level of service, regardless of company size.”
