Hallam Express has added eight new Volvo FH Aero 460 6x2 tractor units to its fleet. Supplied by Reece Middleton, area sales manager at Crossroads Truck and Bus, the vehicles join a predominantly Volvo fleet of 60 trucks.
David Simpson, managing director at Hallam Express, said: “We’ve trusted Volvo Trucks for over three decades because its vehicles consistently deliver exceptional performance and reliability. The new FH Aero model promises to take our fuel efficiency to the next level, which is crucial for our operation.
“Our drivers are also thrilled with the advanced features that enhance both safety and the overall driving experience. This investment aligns with our long-term strategy to maintain a modern, efficient fleet.”
The trucks are equipped with Euro 6-compliant engines with 460hp, peak torque of 2600Nm and a 12-speed automated gearbox. The FH Aero cab is 24cm longer than the standard FH model to achieve greater aerodynamic benefits. As well as the more aerodynamic cab, the FH Aero features turbo compound technology, I-See predictive cruise control and Volvo’s camera monitoring system to improve fuel economy by up to 5%.
Simpson said: “Fuel efficiency is paramount in our industry, and the Volvo FH Aero’s advanced design and technology ensure we can maximise every drop. This will not only help us cut costs but also reduce our carbon footprint.”
The Globetrotter cabs are fitted with a fridge, microwave and a built-in navigation system. Every year, the trucks are expected to cover around 160,000km working on general haulage jobs across the UK. The vehicles will stay on the fleet for around three years, during which time they’ll be backed by a Volvo gold repair and maintenance contract.
Based in Rotherham, Hallam Express is a member of The Pallet Network, offering full and part load general haulage, groupage operations and warehousing services.
