TM Logistics (TML) says it is delighted with ten new MAN Euro 4 TGA tractors that have joined its 170-strong mixed Scania and MAN fleet. "So far we are extremely pleased with their performance," says Adam Purshall, head of engineering and compliance at TML. "They have good driver acceptance and are doing well on fuel."

Purshall says he is happy that his preferred truck brands have both chosen to go down the EGR route at Euro 4, telling MT he couldn't see any of the perceived benefits of SCR. He is already considering placing an order for the new MAN TGX, and is looking forward to seeing the new truck in the flesh next month.

TML is using the new trucks as part of an extensive tyre trial, having fitted half of them with Michelin E regional tyres (XZE2+/XDE2+) and half with the low rolling-resistance Michelin Energy A segment tyres (XZA2/XDA2). Purshall explains that this initiative is part of the company's policy of reducing its carbon footprint by lowering fuel consumption.

"We will be monitoring the performance of both sets of tyres very carefully over the next six to 12 months, but ultimately the trial will run for the life of the tyres," he says.
