The Swansea branch of Euro Commercials has supplied an Actros 1824L to south Wales operator John Pearce Glynneath - its first new Mercedes-Benz rigid for 15 years.
The 18-tonner, with 238hp straight-six engine, StreamSpace cab and 16-pallet body by Newland Coachworks, is on a four-year R&M agreement and comes with funding from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services. It mainly carries out general haulage but also works on the firm’s Pallet Network contract.
The operator, based between Neath and Merthyr Tydfil, has also taken three Actros 2545 tractor units with StreamSpace cabs, on two-year R&M contracts from Euro Commercials. MD Clive Davies, who runs a fleet of 50 trucks said: “The Actros has a comfortable cab that is spacious and well laid out.
"It’s also a great flagship for our company. Euro Commercials does an excellent job for us, I’ve known its truck sales executive Steve Bastin for a long time and he’s a very good guy, while the dealer is also flexible when it comes to collecting our trucks for inspections and services, and returning them afterwards.
“Business has been very good over the last couple of years, during which we’ve grown fast. That’s largely down to the fantastic people we have working for us.”
