A former professional footballer has been given a suspended prison sentence for his involvement in the robbery of a lorry-load of computers worth almost £90,000.

Burnley Crown Court heard that former Chester City footballer, 26-year-old Daniel Frost, from Liverpool, had driven thieves to C & D Transport in Rossendale, Lancashire in October 2006. Computer equipment worth £87,724 was stolen from a truck in the yard.

Frost was not arrested until 2008, at which point he was coaching young footballers. The court heard that a knee injury had ended his career prior to the robbery, but that he had now turned his life around.

He admitted theft and was sentenced 51 weeks in prison, suspended for two years, plus 100 hours of community service. He was also ordered to pay £870 costs.
