Exclusive: New 2022 DAF XF caught testing

When our spies spotted this heavily disguised tractor unit in a German parking area, they didn’t have to look beyond the fuel tank to confirm that it’s a new DAF XF.

Features such as the angle of the door handle and the shape of the wheel arch indicate that it has a substantially new set of outer panels, although it’s unclear if it’s all-new or a further development of the venerable underlying structure.

What the crude cladding can’t hide is that the lower part of the cab front protrudes forward significantly, in line with expectations that it is intended to comply with the latest truck dimension regulation changes.

Our belief is that the cab is being developed for sale in 2022, and that it may well combine the current CF and XF cabs into a single family.
