Scania has revised its smallest truck model, and launched a new Scania G Series

Fagan & Whalley has celebrated its 90th anniversary with the purchase of a next generation Scania S-series.
The S450 features a grey cab, instead of the operator’s usual green. The change in colour is a throwback to the 1960s and 1970s, when Fagan & Whalley’s fleet was all grey.
The vehicle has been named Doris after the late wife of Geoff Fagan, who is still working at the business, aged 85. The livery and name of the truck were kept a surprise by projects and systems manager Sam Fagan and operations manager Daniel Wood.
Stephen Fagan, son of Doris and Geoff, and commercial director of the firm, said: “Calling the truck Doris and the choice of colour was a complete surprise. They kept everything a secret until it was unveiled. It’s a touching tribute by Sam and Daniel.”
Stephen added the anniversary vehicle “had to be a Scania”.
“There was no question about it,” he said. “The build quality on the next generation Scania is a massive improvement on previous models, which we already considered best in class.”
Fagan & Whalley was founded 90 years ago with a horse and cart and now runs a fleet of 170 Scanias and employs more than 320 people.
Stephen said the driving force behind the operator’s success is its pride in its heritage. He said: “We’re not here to let people down. It goes hand in hand with Scania. We know our strengths and we are proud of our heritage and build relationships based on our core values – that’s the road we choose to follow.”
The firm is in the process of opening a depot in Burnley Bridge. The 92,000ft2 site, off junction 9 of the M65, has parking for 80 trailers and 10 loading bays.
