Llandaff Laminates has added its first Isuzu truck to its fleet. The Cardiff-based business opted for a new 4x2 N75.190 with a 3-tonne payload, supplied by Commercial Motors Wales. The rigid is fitted with a bespoke curtainside body from CTB Commercial Bodies and joins a mixed fleet of eight commercial vehicles. The Isuzu N75 will be put to work delivering furniture boards, worktops and kitchen appliances to customers across West Wales and the M4 towards Swindon.
Mark Phillips, managing director of Llandaff Laminates, said: “We explored every avenue before opting for Isuzu; in the end we simply couldn’t look past such an impressive payload capacity, particularly when you consider the truck’s compact footprint and great manoeuvrability. When you add in how quickly Commercial Motors was able to deliver the vehicle, it was a no brainer.
“We’ve been looking at ways to make our truck fleet more agile and efficient. The Isuzu gives us a smaller and lighter vehicle than the 7.5-tonner it replaces, without having to compromise too much on payload – a combination that will make customer deliveries more cost effective. This is also the first time we’ve been able to specify the body design from scratch, which has allowed us to maximise the space and ensure we’re still able to carry our full range of products.”
The truck’s bespoke bodywork from CTB Commercial Bodies was designed to take its largest boards and worktops. Inside the load space features racking and additional anchor points.
Phillips said: “This first truck was really to test the water with a new manufacturer. So far, we have been thoroughly impressed with the level of communication and support we’ve received, as well as the performance we’re getting from the vehicle. As we continue to re-shape our fleet, Isuzu will be our first port of call.”
The truck comes with a three-year unlimited mileage warranty and 24/7 roadside assistance. Llandaff Laminates expects to keep the new Isuzu rigid on fleet for around seven years working five days a week.
