Waters Waste Services of Teesside has taken delivery of its first Volvo - an FMX 8x2 rear-steer tag-axle waste tanker - from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North and Scotland.

The FMX, which has an I-Shift automated transmission, 420hp, 13-litre engine and sleeper cab with a single bunk, is the first of two the company has on order.

Both FMXs will operate from the company’s headquarters in Teesside.

They will feature a Sayers Road Tankers waste vacuum tank constructed from stainless steel and equipped with a Gardner Denver pump that runs off the truck’s PTO. The tanks can carry up to 18,184 litres of waste water as well as 1,818 litres of fresh water.

Waters Waste Services MD Neal Waters said: “The support we’ve had from the Stockton-on-Tees depot of Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North and Scotland, has been extremely helpful.

“We were specific with our requirements, but the dealer liaised closely with Sayers and we’re delighted with the result. We also have a five-year gold R&M contract with the dealership.”
