Knowles Logistics has taken delivery of five new DAF XG+ 480 tractor units. The XG+ trucks join Knowles Logistics during a period of growth to improve operational efficiency and expand the company’s capacity. The Cambridgeshire-based firm runs a fleet of 160 trucks and 220 trailers.

Supplied by DAF Trucks dealer Ford and Slater Wisbech, the trucks have PACCAR MX-13 engines with 480hp. The XG+ cabs are fitted with a full aero kit with deflectors, fenders and side skirts to improve aerodynamic performance, reduce drag and maximise fuel economy.

Alex Knowles, MD at Knowles Logistics said: “We are delighted to have taken delivery of our DAF XG+ 480 tractor units, which have been purchased to cater to the company’s growth in recent years. Over the decades we have always looked to commit significant investment to the best equipment to support both our drivers and our customers.

“The DAF trucks are designed for two things, operational efficiency and comfort, which means our drivers can enjoy a safer, more comfortable driving experience, while we benefit from their

performance and fuel savings. We are on a continuing journey to drive down emissions and ultimately want vehicles that will make a positive contribution to our sustainability goals and these DAF trucks align perfectly with this commitment.”

Over the past year, Knowles Logistics has invested in its fleet with three new Volvo FM Electric 4x2 tractor units, bringing its EV total up to four vehicles. The company has also introduced new autonomous warehouse maintenance technology with an inventory management drone and two autonomous cleaning robots.

Ford and Slater Wisbech is a DAF dealer that was established in 1928. Approaching its centenary, the group is now one of the largest privately-owned DAF dealers in Europe. The group has 16 dealerships dotted around the Midlands, east and north of England.
