Wide and abnormal loads specialist Lymers Assist has taken delivery of a new Mercedes-Benz Actros Edition 1.

Supplied by Mertrux Truck and Van on a Mercedes-Benz Finance contract hire deal, it is powered by the manufacturer’s 625hp 15.6-litre engine and based on its Gigaspace cab.

Designed as a top-of-the-range model and limited to 400 units, 35 of which were designated for the UK market, the Edition 1 features a gloss black grille, darkened headlamp covers and rims, a branded sun visor with four extra LED main-beam headlamps, Mirrorcam, Active Brake Assist 5 and enhanced Predictive Powertrain Control technology as standard.

It also includes interactive version of the Multimedia Cockpit, with a 12-inch colour display, black leather-trimmed cab interior and a polished and brushed aluminium dashboard badge and a 900mm-wide bed.

“Image is very important to me. I don’t want basic, supermarket-spec trucks, so most of ours are high-end models that really look the part when they turn up on behalf of our customers… [and] that’s certainly true of the Edition 1,” said the firm’s founder, Alex Lymer.
