Worldwide Flight Services has added 29 new SDC rollerbed trailers to its fleet. Supplied on a five year contract hire agreement from Asset Alliance, the trailers will be put to work supporting freight handling operations out of Heathrow Airport. The new trailers are part of a fleet renewal programme which will see them paired with Renault tractor units. Worldwide Flight Services operates a mixed fleet of 45 trucks and 48 trailers.
Phil Huntington, UK transport manager at Worldwide Flight Services, said: “SDC trailers are robust and reliable and exactly what we need to support our growing transport operation in the UK and Ireland. We now have a presence at every UK airport and run nightly road transport services as far south as Gatwick Airport and as far north as Aberdeen to provide the widest possible distribution network for our customers.”
Heathrow is one of the company’s largest international cargo stations. It has seven facilities which handle more than 350,000 tonnes of cargo a year, working for 14 airlines across around 17,500 flights annually. Over the past two years Worldwide Flight Services has experienced a period of growth since expanding its warehousing at Heathrow to take on new airline contacts and more volume.
Huntington said: “We have a strong relationship with the team at Asset Alliance Group. With these SDC trailers, they offered the perfect solution to ensure we maintain our high level of customer service to the airlines with whom we are contracted.”
